Ques 16 : Explain the following in terms of gain or loss of oxygen with two examples each. (a) Oxidation (b) Reduction Ans 16 : (a) Oxidation is the gain of oxygen or the        loss of electron.   For example: In equation (i),  H 2  is oxidised to  H 2 O  and in   equation   (ii), Cu is oxidised to Cu O.  (b) Reduction is the loss of oxygen.
