Kinematics Important Questions Of Physics

Ques 1. Mention the condition when an object is in motion (a) can be considered point object (b) can not be considered point object.

Ans. An object can be considered as a point object if (a) its size is negligible in comparison to the distance travelled by object (b) it's size is not negligible in comparison to the distance travelled by object.

Ques 2. Can Earth be regarded as a point object when it is describing its really journey around the sun?

Ans. Yes, because the diameter of earth is very small as compared to the radius of the orbital path of earth around the sun.

Ques 3. Can the speed of a body be negative?

Ans. No, because the speed of an object is the distance travelled by the by object in unit time and distance can never be negative.

Ques 4. which speed is measured by the speedometer of your scooter?

Ans. The Speedometer measure the instantaneous speed of the scooter at a given instant of time.

Ques 5.What does the slope of position time
graph represent for a uniform motion?

Ans. The uniform velocity of the object.

Ques 6.What does the tangent at a point to the position time graph for an object in non uniform motion along a straight line represent?

Ans. Instantaneous speed on instantaneous velocity at the given instant.

Ques 7.What will be the nature of velocity time graph for a uniform motion?

Ans. A straight line parallel to time axis.

Ques 8. What will be the nature of position time graph for uniform motion?

Ans. A straight line inclined to time axis.

Ques 9. Can position time graph for negative slope?

Ans. Yes, when the velocity of the object is negative.

Ques 10. What do you understand by positive and negative time?

Ans. The Instant of time which taken after the origin of time is called positive time and the instant of time which is taken before the origin of time is going to time.

Ques 11. Can a body have a constant velocity but varying speed?

Ans. No, a body cannot possess a constant velocity but varying speed.

Ques 12. Under what condition is the average velocity equal to instantaneous velocity?

Ans. It is so when a body is moving with a uniform velocity that is there is a uniform motion of the body in One dimension.

Ques 13.Can the direction of velocity of a body change when acceleration is constant?

Ans. Yes, when the body moves vertically upwards after reaching the highest point the body starts falling down that is the direction of velocity rivers to wear as the acceleration is constant.

Ques 14. Distinguish between speed and velocity.

Ans. Speed is a scalar quantity, the speed of an object can be zero and positive but never negative. Velocity is a vector quantity in fact velocity is equal to speed+ direction, the velocity of an object can be positive, zero and negative.
